Twitch Rivals: Ultimate Challenge, Live from Barcelona is THE interactive competition that mixes fun IRL and digital games played by their favorite creators!
32 creators representing the Spanish-speaking community on Twitch will come together LIVE and compete in a 1-day tournament featuring IRL and video gaming challenges that mirror each other. Creators will compete as duos to earn “Ultimate Points” towards an overall leaderboard, where they’ll battle in a final single elimination bracket.
The winner will automatically qualify for TwitchCon Amsterdam and win a flight, ticket, and hotel covered by Twitch Rivals.
Tournament Details
Challenge #0 | Icebreaker
- DMCA Chairs (Musical Chairs)
- 32 Players compete in a game of Musical Chairs
- In each round of Musical Chairs, when the music begin, players walk around a row of back-to-back chairs.
- When the music stops, players must sit in any vacant chair.
- Any player who is unable to seat themselves in a vacant chair is eliminated
- Before the start of the next round, chairs are removed from the playing area
- Process repeats until only 1 player remains
- To avoid pushing/shoving and risk of injury, any “ties” (chair is claimed by 2 people at the same time), winner is determined by whoever has claimed the “most” space on the chair; if too close to call, tie broken by Rock Paper Scissors
Challenge #1 | Don't Wake Nanny
- 2 Duos compete at a time
- Creators begin the game laying in a bed, under the covers with the lights off with the "Nanny" outside of the room.
- Creators will attempt to build a tower with objects located within the room while the Nanny periodically renters.
- If Nanny spots the Creators outside of their bed and covers, Nanny will knock over their tower, leave the room and Creators must restart the creation of their towers.
- Timer pauses when Nanny is in the room
- Teams are ranked based on the final height of the tower after 5 minutes.
Challenge #2 | Pots and Paella!
- 2 Duos compete at a time
- Players retrieve 5 food items from a challenge tank.
- After (or while) items are retrieved, players toss their food items into 5 pots distanced along the set.
- Players are timed based on how quickly they can retrieve their items and toss each item into each pot.
- After X time limit, if a team hasn’t completed the challenge, they are ranked based on the time of their last made item.
- More ingredients in the rice tank than necessary.
- Recipe provides the correct order of ingredients to build the “perfect paella”, but it isn’t necessary to follow recipe.
- Time is locked in when last item successfully lands in its pan.
Challenge #3 | Operation Tango (PC)
- 4 Duos compete simultaneously
- Duos compete at their PCs during this Challenge
- Requires a lot of communication to be successful - so players put on boom-mic headsets to talk directly to each other
- Webcam on each monitor, close cut on player's face. Custom GFX layout for monitoring this challenge.
- 20-Minute Time Limit
- Teams are ranked based on completion time and # of puzzles passed
- Ties broken by time to complete most recent puzzle
Challenge #4 | Moving Out (PC)
- 4 Duos compete simultaneously
- Duos compete at their PCs during this Challenge
- Teams are ranked based on the total time to complete the first three (3) puzzles of the cooperative story (not incl. tutorial)
- If the 3 puzzles are not completed in time, ties are broken by (1) number of puzzles completed, then (2) total time to complete the number of puzzles
Quarterfinals | Hasbro's BATTLESHIP
- All Quarterfinals matches are played at the same time
- 1v1 Best-of-3 Conquest
- “Commander” Mode
- Games 1 & 2 are played simultaneously
- If neither team achieves a clean sweep, a Game 3 is played.
- Game winner sits out
- First team to have both players win a Game advance to Semifinals
Finale | The Last Drop
- With one player at a time, the teams take turns adding water from one large cup into a smaller cup
- The smaller cup cannot be moved or touched
- Water can only be added in one purposeful motion (i.e. players cannot pour some water into the cup, then add more after)
- The first team that causes the smaller cup to overflow loses.
